This description is a work of fiction, however the controls and music credits are real.
This game is an emulation of a forty-four year old Gameboy cartridge discovered in a drawer in an abandoned office building. Faithfully recreated, it features everything from the original cartridge including:
- Full sound
- Score system
- Advanced rendering
Along with the cartridge, a scrap of an instruction manual was found in an adjacent drawer. It read:
..[Y]ou can control your very own XEBEL 20001 spaceship! Press L and R on [t]he D-pad to maneuver side to side, and press the A [b]utton to laser-bounce off incoming death rays, but don't fall! Co[m]pete against your friends with the ne[w]...
(smudged or missing letters that have been replaced have been marked with a square brackets). The game included a feature that would let players bounce higher by double-tapping the A button that was not mentioned by the remaining section of the instructions manual.
Controls have been condensed and emulated with:
Keyboard Keys | Function | Original Gameboy Buttons |
Arrow Keys | Move the player side-to-side | D-Pad |
X | Bounce (double tap to super-bounce) | A |
Z | Start the game from the menu screen | Start |
