This game is based on the Royal Game of Ur, an ancient board game from ~2,500 BCE in Mesopotamia. It is one of the oldest known board games that we know of; until very recently, the rules of the game were lost to time.

INSTRUCTIONS

Note: 2-Player mode requires 2 players, it's conventional local multiplayer. If you don't have a second player, please select 1-Player mode in order to play against an AI (recommended for the jam).

  • The lava fountains show your roll, or how many spaces you are able to move.
  • You have five pieces, all of which start in your pool (on the pedestal). Click and drag on any of your pieces to move them forward by your roll. This includes pieces in your pool (ie you can move them out of the pool with any roll as you would move a piece normally).
  • You move in a loop, going across your side of the board and the red tiles.

  • You cannot land on a space that is already occupied by one of your own pieces.
  • Landing on a ladder gives you an extra turn.
  • The red tiles are where your path crosses your enemy, you or your opponent can take each others pieces by landing on them. Taking a piece sends it back to its owner's pool.
  • Gain a point by moving a piece exactly off the board at the end (no more no less). This piece is now out of the game.
  • Drag powerups from your deck onto their targets to use them.

Very stylish and the power-ups are a great twist on the Royal Game of Ur! I did run into a bug when starting my turn with all my power-up slots full where new power-ups would appear over in the AI's inventory, but was very fun
